The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) asserted on Saturday that there is no truth to the news reports claiming the introduction of the Polymer Banknotes Series.
In a notification, the SBP dismissed the circulating reports regarding the issuance of polymer (plastic) banknotes as unfounded and lacking credibility.
The central bank emphasized that there are no ongoing discussions or proposals to shift from paper to polymer as the substrate for banknotes.
SBP clarified that it currently utilizes a cotton-based paper substrate, sourced locally from Security Papers Limited, predominantly employing local raw materials.
