The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a nationwide dengue alert following the recent monsoon season. Authorities are warning citizens of a possible surge in dengue cases due to standing water in various regions, which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Health departments across major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, have intensified fumigation campaigns and are urging the public to take precautions, such as using mosquito repellents and ensuring water does not accumulate in and around homes. Hospitals have also been put on high alert, and medical staff are being prepared for a potential influx of dengue patients.

This warning comes after the monsoon rains created ideal conditions for the spread of the dengue-carrying Aedes mosquito, which thrives in humid environments. The public is being advised to be vigilant, especially in the coming weeks, as the dengue season typically peaks in October.
