Pakistan’s agricultural sector is facing a significant challenge as cotton production has recorded a substantial decrease. The latest figures reveal a 49% decline in cotton production in Pakistan till August 15, compared to the same period last year.

Chairman of the Cotton Growers Forum, Ehsan ul Haq, attributed the decline to unfavorable weather conditions, expensive agricultural inputs, and reduced cultivation. The decline in cotton production has been particularly severe in Punjab and Sindh, with a 38% and 54% decrease respectively.
