In a recent development, Federal Minister of Energy, Awais Leghari, has indicated a potential decrease of Rs 2.37 per unit in electricity prices for consumers. Speaking about electricity tariffs, Leghari explained that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) determines electricity prices in the power sector. He added that prices are adjusted monthly based on quarterly tariffs and monthly fuel adjustment charges.

Leghari stated that NEPRA’s decisions are often misunderstood due to a lack of understanding in the media. He revealed that NEPRA approved their petition yesterday, resulting in a quarterly adjustment increase of 96 paisa per unit and a fuel adjustment charge decrease of Rs 2.87. Consequently, consumers will pay Rs 2.37 less per unit.
