The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G) has proposed to the government the implementation of a tax on solar panel users of residential and commercial who have installed solar systems.
CPPA-G suggests levying a tax of Rs. 2,000 per kilowatt on users of both residential and commercial solar panels.
As per the information, individuals utilizing 12-kilowatt panels would be liable to pay a tax amounting to Rs. 24,000. The Ministry has transmitted the proposal to the prime minister for consideration and approval.

Moreover, there are indications that a proposal for the adjustment of buyback rates for net metering electricity is also being reviewed.
Upon approval of the proposal, an application will be submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to revise the buyback rates for net metering electricity.
