The signing ceremony for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 hosting rights agreement took place on Friday at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) headquarters in Dubai.

Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, and Jonathan Hall, ICC General Counsel, jointly signed the agreement, solidifying Pakistan as the host for the prestigious tournament.

In an official statement, the PCB communicated that it has already apprised the government of the crucial need for stringent security measures to safeguard visiting international teams during the Champions Trophy.

During a recent meeting, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar assured the Chairman of the PCB Management Committee of full cooperation from security agencies to ensure the seamless and successful hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.

The upcoming event marks the return of the ICC Champions Trophy after an eight-year hiatus since its last occurrence in 2017. Notably, some Test-playing nations like Sri Lanka and West Indies were absent from the global tournament, with Sri Lanka failing to secure a top-eight position in the ICC World Cup 2023 points table.

For the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, a total of eight teams will participate, adhering to the One Day International (ODI) format. The qualification process included the top seven teams from the ICC ODI World Cup group stage, along with the host nation, Pakistan, securing their positions for the forthcoming tournament.

The confirmed participating teams for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy are Pakistan (hosts), India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, England, and Bangladesh.
