In a bid to tighten security and prevent SIM card misuse, the PTA will permanently block all SIMs registered in the names of deceased individuals if they are not transferred to rightful owners by October 15.

According to PTA sources, SIM card holders must present a valid death certificate, proof of relationship with the deceased, the original SIM, and proof of the current SIM to transfer ownership.
This latest crackdown follows the successful deactivation of SIMs issued on expired ID cards prior to 2017 and the blocking of approximately 70,000 SIMs registered with canceled or fake ID cards.
“The PTA is committed to ensuring the integrity of Pakistan’s telecommunications sector,” said a spokesperson. “This initiative will help prevent illegal activities and safeguard national security.”
Transfer Requirements:
– Valid death certificate
– Proof of relationship with the deceased
– Original SIM card
– Proof of current SIM card
Deadline: October 15
The PTA urges affected individuals to complete the transfer process before the deadline to avoid permanent SIM blockage.
This operation is part of the PTA’s ongoing efforts to regulate the telecommunications sector and protect citizens from potential security threats.
