Karachi Rain Emergency: The city of Karachi is bracing for potential heavy rainfall, prompting precautionary measures from the local administration.

Half-day for Offices: As a preventative measure, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced a half-day for offices in the city on Friday. This decision aims to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety of residents during the anticipated rainfall. Offices in the Karachi division will be closed from 2 PM onwards.

Rain Emergency Declared: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah declared a rain emergency throughout the province in response to the weather forecast. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for comprehensive preparations and directed relevant authorities to take necessary precautions, particularly in areas prone to flooding from the Khuzdar mountain range.

Enhanced Traffic Management: DIG Traffic has been instructed to implement enhanced traffic management plans to minimize congestion and disruptions during the potential downpour.

Heavy Rainfall Expected: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall, wind, or thunderstorms in various districts of Sindh, including Karachi, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Khairpur, and Mirpurkhas. This weather event is expected to occur on February 29th and March 1st. The forecast also includes a possibility of isolated hailstorms.
