Non-Essential Medicines
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Get ready for a shift in how non-essential medicines are priced in Pakistan! Pharmaceutical companies will soon have the reins on setting their own prices, following a green light from the federal cabinet.

Here’s the lowdown:

  • Non essential medicines get a pricing makeover: Say goodbye to government-regulated prices for non-essential medicines. Companies will now have the say in how much they cost.
  • But don’t panic, essentials are safe: Rest assured, the prices of 464 life-saving drugs on the National Essential Medicine List (NEML) are still under the watchful eye of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).
  • This change is official: A notification has been issued, making it all legit.

  • Remember, this doesn’t affect essential meds: The increase in prices for 146 essential medicines approved on February 2nd remains separate from this deregulation move.
  • Got a complaint? No worries, DRAP’s online portal is still open for you to report any medicine unavailability concerns.
