Pakistan Government Expands Airport Outsourcing Initiative to 08 Airports

Airport Outsourcing– On Tuesday, the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Aviation, Farhat Hussain Shah, informed the Senate that the Pakistan government has opted to delegate the management of eight airports in a phased manner. Initially intending to outsource Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi airports, the decision has now been expanded to encompass a total of eight airports.

The outsourcing procedure will be carried out through open bidding in multiple phases. Previously, the government’s decision to outsource was met with opposition from the Aircraft Owners and Operators Association of Pakistan (AOOA), who criticized it as “unilateral” and claimed it lacked adherence to PPRA (Public Procurement Regulatory Authority) rules.
