Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Provides Relief to Poor Amidst Rising Electricity Bills
Lahore, Pakistan – In a bid to provide respite to the public from escalating electricity bills, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a solar panel scheme for consumers using 200 units of electricity. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden of increasing electricity costs on low-income households.
Interest-Free Loans for Solar Panel Installation
The Punjab government has decided to offer interest-free loans to consumers using 200 to 500 units of electricity, enabling them to install solar panels. The provincial government will bear 75% of the installation cost, making it easier for residents to switch to renewable energy.

Relief for Low-Income Families
Maryam Nawaz, in her statement, expressed her concern about the difficulties faced by the poor due to rising electricity bills. She assured that her government will always stand with the underprivileged and take measures to alleviate their sufferings.
Recent Electricity Tariff Hike
Yesterday, the federal cabinet approved a significant increase in the basic electricity tariff by Rs 7.12 per unit, leading to higher monthly bills for electricity consumers. The new tariff stands at Rs 48.84 per unit, with sales tax adding another Rs 57.63 per unit. After adjustments and taxes, the maximum electricity tariff will be Rs 65 per unit.
