Rain Forecast– The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a notice stating that a westerly wave is expected to move into the northern regions of the country starting from April 10th, followed by another robust westerly wave on April 12th, which is likely to affect most parts of the country from April 13th to April 15th.

According to the PMD, the following rain forecast has been made for various regions across the country:

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regions including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, and Malakand can expect rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms from April 10th to April 15th, with intermittent breaks. Similarly, Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, and Kurram may experience similar weather conditions from April 12th to April 15th. Isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms are also anticipated from April 13th to April 15th.

In Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, including regions like Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar, Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected from April 10th to April 15th, with intermittent breaks. Isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms are also anticipated from April 13th to April 15th.

For Punjab and Islamabad, areas such as Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal can expect rain, wind, and thunderstorms on April 10th, and then from April 12th (evening/night) to April 15th, with intermittent breaks. Other areas including Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar may experience similar weather conditions from April 12th (evening/night) to April 15th. Isolated windstorms/hailstorms are also expected from April 13th to April 15th.

In Balochistan, regions including Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musakhel, Kohlu, Sibbi, Jhal Magsi, Loralai, Ziarat, Quetta, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Kalat, Lasbella, Khuzdar, Chagi, Panjgur, Gawadar, and Kech may experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms (with isolated heavy falls) from April 12th to April 14th.

In Sindh, cities such as Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Qambar Shahdad Kot, Jamshoro, and Sanghar can expect rain, wind, and thunderstorms on April 13th and April 14th. Additionally, isolated rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected in Karachi and Hyderabad during the mentioned period.

  • Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in local nullahs/streams in various regions from April 13th to April 15th.
