A Babar Azam century against Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been rewarded with a gift of a car.
The car, an MG Essence, was presented to Azam by Javed Afridi, the chairman of Peshawar Zalmi.
Afridi was so impressed by Azam’s performance that he announced the gift immediately after the match.
Azam’s knock of 111 not out from 63 balls helped Peshawar Zalmi to chase down a target of 201 runs.
The innings was described as “mind-blowing” by Afridi, who hailed Azam as “the best batter in the country”.
It was Azam’s second century in the PSL, and he now has 11 centuries in T20 cricket overall.
Only Chris Gayle, with 22 centuries, has more T20 centuries than Azam.
Azam’s recent achievement of becoming the fastest batsman to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket suggests that he is likely to continue to break records in the years to come.
