Heatwave Warning Issued for Karachi: High Temperatures Expected Until June 5

On Monday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a heatwave warning for Karachi, predicting daytime temperatures between 40-42ºC from May 29 to 31, with the intense heat likely to extend until June 5.

Citizens are advised by the PMD to stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight from 11 am to 4 pm to prevent heatstroke.

The Ministry of Climate Change recently highlighted that 26 districts nationwide are facing a severe heatwave, expected to last until May 30, with peak temperatures potentially exceeding 50ºC between May 23 and 28, according to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz.

In other news, weather officials suggest that pre-monsoon rains might start in the first week of June. The heatwave, caused by high pressure in the upper atmosphere, is affecting many parts of the country, particularly Sindh and Punjab.
