The interim government’s groundbreaking Smartphone Accessibility Policy, set to launch on January 15 next year, aims to revolutionize smartphone purchases through user-friendly Installment Plans for Smartphone Purchases. Federal Caretaker Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Dr. Umar Saif, highlighted the advantages for users, especially travelers, in accessing the latest smartphone models.

Crafted in collaboration with telecom company stakeholders, the policy promotes responsible financial behavior and enhances smartphone accessibility, particularly for low-income segments. Under this initiative, telecom companies will directly provide smartphones to customers through installment plans, making mobile broadband more accessible.

To safeguard investors, measures such as blocking mobile phones and potentially national identity cards of defaulters will be implemented. Dr. Saif stressed the importance of investor protection and the establishment of a robust mechanism for the policy’s success.
