Rebecca Joynes, born on December 30, 1993, and residing in Waterman Walk, Salford, was convicted of six sexual offenses against two boys by a majority verdict at Manchester Crown Square Court on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Joynes was initially arrested on October 18, 2021, on suspicion of engaging in sexual activity with a child, which led to her being charged with six counts of sexual activity: four counts directly involving a child and two counts involving a child by someone in a position of trust.'Sexual predator' Maths Teacher Rebecca Joynes Found Guilty Of Sex With Two School boys

According to court testimony, Joynes had contacted two teenage boys, who remain unnamed for legal reasons, during her tenure as a teacher at a Greater Manchester school.

Evidence presented to the jury revealed that Joynes groomed one of the boys by taking him to the Trafford Centre and purchasing a £345 Gucci belt for him, before engaging in sexual activity with him at her apartment.

Following these events, Joynes was suspended from her teaching position and later discovered to be pregnant by the second boy, whom she had first met when he was 15 years old.

Joynes was arrested and suspended from her job while the initial allegations were investigated. During this period, she continued to communicate with the second boy via social media, despite being prohibited from contacting anyone under 18.

She claimed that they only had sexual relations after her dismissal, which resulted in her pregnancy, despite previously informing him that conceiving would be nearly impossible for her due to a health condition. The boy was reportedly shocked to learn of the pregnancy after she presented him with a baby grow.

Their daughter was taken from Joynes following an emergency court hearing within 24 hours of the birth.

A future date has been set for Joynes’s sentencing.

Detective Constable Beth Alexander from the Child Protection Investigation Unit in Salford expressed gratitude to the victims and their families for their bravery in coming forward and cooperating with the investigation.

“Rebecca Joynes is a sexual predator who betrayed the trust of her students,” said Alexander. “She abused her position to groom two teenage boys. We are pleased with today’s verdict and now await Joynes’s sentencing.”

Alexander also commended the officers and the investigation team for their hard work and dedication, adding that the victims and their families have requested privacy to move forward with their lives and leave this ordeal behind.
